COURSE INFORMATION
STRUCTURE
Based on a modular approach with a combination of theoretical and practical content, the course is delivered over 4 days (32 hours) plus home study, totalling approximately, 36 hours.
AIM OF THIS COURSE
To provide coaches with the knowledge, skills, and attributes to effectively coach individual lessons in a club setting. The coach will develop coaching skills and the technical & tactical aspects of defence and attack applicable to Development and Talent fencers.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
By the end of this course, you should gain a better understanding of how to:
Provide the knowledge, skills and attributes to effectively coach young people or adults in the techniques of fencing to an advance level.
Develop coaching skills and the technical as well as the tactical aspects ofdefence and attack that are required to develop fencers in groups or 1-2-1lessons.
ENTRY LEVEL RECOMMENDATION
Experienced level 2 coaches with the ambition of achieving a Level 3qualification.
Level 3 coaches looking to develop their knowledge of another weapon
PRE-REQUISITES FOR REGISTRATION AS A BRITISH FENCING COACH
Please note that British Fencing uses "minimum standards for active coaches" in its coaching framework. If you would like to become a British Fencing Registered Coach, you also are required to hold:
A valid British Fencing membership.
Must hold a Level 2 qualification in Foil, Epee or Sabre
Current SafeGuard Core certificate or equivalent.
It is recommended that coaches attending have acquired some experience ofworking with the most talented fencers and demonstrate a willingness andopen-mindedness to learn.
A valid criminal records check.
